Jude

New Testament · Epistle / Letter · Traditionally attributed to Jude, brother of Jesus · 1 chapters

Jude is a short, urgent warning against false teachers who had crept into the church, twisting God's grace into a licence for immorality and denying the Lord. Writing to 'contend for the faith once for all delivered to the saints' (verse 3), Jude piles up vivid examples of judgement from Israel's history and beyond.

Yet it ends not in fear but in confidence, with one of Scripture's most magnificent doxologies to the God 'who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory' (verses 24–25). Brief, fierce and reassuring.
