ArchaeologyLeonard Woolley's excavations (1922β34) revealed the great ziggurat, the Royal Cemetery with its treasure-filled tombs, and thick water-laid silt he controversially linked to the biblical flood β the wealthy Sumerian city the book of Genesis names as Abraham's homeland.
