2 Corinthians

New Testament · Epistle / Letter · Traditionally attributed to Paul · 13 chapters

2 Corinthians is Paul's most personal and emotional letter, written after a painful breach with the Corinthian church and a wave of criticism from rival teachers. He defends his ministry and his motives, laying bare his sufferings, weaknesses and love for the church.

Out of this vulnerability come profound reflections on the treasure of the gospel carried in 'jars of clay', on the ministry of reconciliation, on generous giving, and on God's grace made perfect in weakness: 'when I am weak, then I am strong' (12:10). It is the letter that most reveals Paul's own heart.
