Timothy — Paul's 'true child in the faith'

A young disciple of Lystra, son of a Greek father and a Jewish mother, Eunice. Paul took him as a companion on the second journey and came to regard him as a son; two of Paul's letters are addressed to him. Tradition makes him the first bishop of Ephesus.
