Hebrews

Hebrews is an eloquent sermon-letter urging Jewish Christians, tempted to drift back to the old ways, to hold fast to Christ. Its great argument is the supremacy and finality of Jesus — greater than angels, than Moses, than the priesthood and sacrifices of the old covenant.

He is the great high priest who, by offering himself once for all, has opened the way to God. Interwoven with warnings against falling away is the famous roll-call of faith in chapter 11 and the call to 'run with endurance the race set before us, looking to Jesus' (12:1–2). Hebrews shows how the whole Old Testament points to Christ.
