2 Thessalonians

2 Thessalonians follows up the first letter, correcting a misunderstanding that had unsettled the church — a rumour that the day of the Lord had already come. Paul explains that certain events must unfold first, including the appearing of 'the man of lawlessness', before Christ returns in glory.

He encourages the persecuted believers to stand firm, and rebukes some who, misusing end-times excitement, had stopped working: 'If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat' (3:10). The letter balances confident hope with steady, responsible living.
