Ezekiel

Ezekiel, a priest taken to Babylon in an early deportation, prophesied to the exiles in dramatic visions and symbolic acts. The first half announces judgement on Jerusalem and the nations, including the wrenching vision of God's glory departing the doomed Temple.

After the city falls, the message turns to hope: the vision of the valley of dry bones brought to life (chapter 37), the promise of a new heart and a new spirit, and a soaring final vision of a restored Temple with a river of life flowing from it. Ezekiel insists on personal responsibility and on a God determined to restore his people for the sake of his own name.
