Name & titles
ScholarlyThe Greek Eliakim (Ἐλιακίμ) transliterates the Hebrew Elyaqim, 'God will raise up' or 'God establishes' (from the root qum, 'to rise/stand'). It is a well-attested Judahite theophoric name, though this particular bearer is an otherwise unknown link in the post-exilic section of Matthew's genealogy.
Onomastic analysis of the Hebrew element El + qum; standard Hebrew lexica (e.g. BDB, HALOT).
